Christina Aguilera

I know this only barely falls under the title of music news, but I think everyone should leave Christina Aguilera alone for her SuperBowl blunder of the national anthem. I mean, she screwed up on one phrase. Seriously, she was in front of thousands of people, plus pretty much the rest of America via TV. And I agree with what Fergie said later on The Dan Patrick Show: "I felt for her because, you know what, it's such a huge venue, your nerves just take a hold of you, so I completely understand . . . You get nervous at these things; she's human!" We all do stupid things; I did it the other day when I was asked if I was Hawaiian and responded without thinking: "No, I'm American." (Which I would not have admitted to if I wasn't confident of my knowledge of history and geography.) I'm not saying that Aguilera (or Fergie, for that matter) is a wonderful role model for young girls everywhere; but kudos to her for getting up there without lip-synching it like chanteuses of the past. (And hey, at least she didn't use a body double like Joan Rivers in the GoDaddy commercial!)
