My thoughts about the music of our time . . . the good, the bad, and the brilliant.

Rolling Stone's 1992 AIC Feature
Check out this feature of Alice in Chains by Rolling Stone in 1992, back when Mike Starr was still in the band and Layne Staley had just quit heroin cold turkey. It also deals a lot with the Seattle scene in the nineties. I think AIC are grossly underrated in the grunge canon; but usually, the underrated bands are the best. Don't get me wrong, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam are all bands that I enjoy, but in my opinion, no one ever got close to the raw agony of Alice in Chains. I'll post my favorite song/video of theirs, "Angry Chair," above. (Staley actually wrote both the music and lyrics for this song, and was even known to play guitar alongside Jerry Cantrell in its live performances.)
