My thoughts about the music of our time . . . the good, the bad, and the brilliant.

Billy Corgan Announces Plans for the Pumpkins
Among the news Corgan gives on this video, posted on their blog this morning, is the fact that a new track, "Othawa," will complete the Pumpkins' latest effort, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope which has been made available on their website for free download one song at a time. The Pumpkins will also make a new album, Oceania, which Corgan says will be "part of the Teargarden project." I think this is good news, but I hope Oceania will be a better effort than its predecessor. I don't know, I just miss the hard, grinding Pumpkins stuff from back in the day, like "Zero." I still love songs like "In the Arms of Sleep" and "Cherub Rock," but it felt like Teargarden had no variety at all; it was just one long, long, long song.
