New Music from Soundgarden

According to Blabbermouth.net, who posted the news on the website this morning, one of the "Big Four" in grunge, Soundgarden, who reunited in 2010, is back in the studio working on some new material. The Chris Cornell-fronted band released this statement: "Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together — exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon."
Cornell started off rumors of the band, who broke up in 1996, getting back together when he posted on his Twitter on January 1, 2010: "The 12-year break is over and school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!" (You go, Chris Cornell!) The band began performing old material together, but until now have not talked about anything new.
Soundgardenworld.com posted some photos of the band in the studio which are above.
I'm excited to see what they come up with, both because I love grunge and because these guys have some good stuff - "Black Hole Sun", "Jesus Christ Pose", "Fell on Black Days", to name a few. Alice in Chains went a different direction with 2009's Black Gives Way to Blue, a direction completely changed from Facelift and Dirt. It'll be interesting to see what a grunge band who didn't lose their lead singer does.
