My thoughts about the music of our time . . . the good, the bad, and the brilliant.

New Evanescence Vid!
Premiering today on Vevo is the brand new Evanescence song, "What You Want" ! It sounds like Amy Lee and band are much more willing to experiment on this self-titled album (due out in October). For one thing, this sounds more like an arena rock song than their usual lachrymose piano-guitar-duet fare. (Not that there's anything wrong with that; it's what makes Evanescence unique and original.) As usual, Lee's voice is rafter-crushing powerful. Guitar and drums are a little different this time, though. They're more in the vein of Korn than the rock/pop riffs that shot "Bring Me to Life" and "Call Me When You're Sober" to fame.
All in all, I'm impressed with the song. And the video's not bad, though it's by far not their best (I like "Everybody's Fool" and "Sweet Sacrifice" myself). I'm excited to see what the album brings.
