Sorry I've been so lazy lately; there's been a lot of crazy stuff going on. Anyway, I'm going to review an awesome album this week, posted on Friday instead.
But on to today's news: Pearl Jam is releasing another album! That's right, children of the nineties, time to get out the flannel shirts. Bassist Jeff Ament told Billboard.com that the band has written 25 all-new songs. All this, despite the fact that frontman Eddie Vedder has been busy with his own solo album to be released later this year, and Pearl Jam are putting on a music festival this summer (location TBA) and will headline both nights. This is in honor of the 20th anniversary of their first album, Ten, and the celebration will also include releasing a documentary to fans which was directed by Cameron Crowe, who also directed the grunge movie Singles, in which many Seattle bands made an appearance.
I've always liked Pearl Jam, but I don't rave about them the way most people do. In my mind, it's like "happy grunge" - it just isn't as brooding and despairing as Alice in Chains or Nirvana, even when Vedder is singing about a childhood classmate growing up to kill people. But Pearl Jam has been around for a while - twenty years is nothing to sneeze at in this era of overdoses and band fights.
